Add onto an Existing Traverse Wall® to Bring Even More Fun and Fitness to Your Program

Because their climbers love the experience so much, many Traverse Wall® owners choose to augment the climbing experience by later adding more climbing area and/or adding Safari® Indoor Jungle Gym Elements to their existing climbing wall. We outline the options below and are available to talk through these exciting ideas with you.

Add More Climbing

There are a few ways to add more climbing square footage. You can lengthen your existing climbing wall. We can pretty closely match whatever panel you have (depending on how old it is), or you can introduce a new panel style that offers different climbing opportunities. For example, add a Discovery® Dry-Erase Wall to allow for cross-curricular programming.

You can also add another climbing wall in a different area. Some educators like this since it allows for two separate climbing stations. Again, it can match your current wall or can be an entirely different wall. One of our Relief-Feature™ Walls is a great way to add another level of challenge since the small features can be used instead of, or along with, the hand holds for climbing.

For those that like to “go big,” you could add a Top Rope Climbing Wall to your space – either attached to your Traverse Wall® to create what we call a Combi Wall, or in another area. These climbing walls are best suited to ages 12 and up since a partner (belayer) is responsible for the safety of the climber through managing a safety rope. Top Rope Climbing walls provide vast opportunities for climbing skill development, positive risk taking, team building and trust building. They also promote courage, communication and social skills. Special equipment and training are required for this type of climbing wall and are included in our package.

Flanner House in Indianapolis added 2 Top Rope lanes just one year after their original Combi Wall was installed.

Add Safari® Jungle Gym Elements

Our Safari® Indoor Jungle Gym is a line of indoor adventure elements that bring low-threat challenge, fun and fitness opportunities. Safari® Elements can be added to an existing Traverse Wall®, by mounting them on either end of the climbing wall making for an extra-interesting start and finish to the climbing experience. Safari® Monkey Bars can be added above an existing horizontal climbing wall which allows children to put their feet on the climbing wall to help them travel across the bars until they develop enough strength to do the Monkey Bars with just their arms. The elements can also be installed separately from the climbing wall to create an additional stand-alone adventure area.

The Safari® Indoor Jungle Gym conveniently stows up against the wall and our Mat-Locking® System helps to prevent unauthorized use. Each element also includes an Activity Guide to help with programming.

The Safari® Indoor Jungle Gym line includes the following elements (get one, or get them all):

SAFARI® MONKEY BARS

Straight from the playground to your gym, the Safari® Monkey Bars help to develop upper body strength. They’re 8’ long and 2’ wide and made of durable powder-coated steel.

SAFARI® WILD WEB

The Safari® Wild Web is an indoor cargo net climbing element that promotes flexibility, endurance and spatial awareness. It attaches to an 8’Lx2’W frame and measures 6’ x 7’. This is a fun one to place between two Traverse Walls. If your plans include more climbing and Safari® elements, this is worth considering.

SAFARI® PLANK WALK

Children cross the Safari® Plank Walk using hanging guide ropes. It’s fun and helps develop upper body strength, core strength, balance and coordination. It attaches to an 8’Lx2’W frame and the plank measures 8’ long.

SAFARI® SWING STEPPERS

Safari® Swing Steppers present a fun balancing challenge, requiring children to move across a set of five swinging steps.

SAFARI® CIRCLE STEPPERS

Safari® Circle Steppers offer a thrilling challenge to travel across five hanging discs! This element requires balance, coordination and patience and can be conducted on feet or knees.
