Keep Your Kids Active During Summer Break with an Everlast Climbing Home Climbing Wall!

Do you have energetic kids that are out of school for summer break? We have many options for home climbing walls that will keep your kids active for hours on end without even having to leave the house! Whether you think a climbing wall would go best in your garage, yard, or even in a bedroom, we’ve got you covered. Please email or call us (800.473.7366) and we will happily work with you to design your dream climbing wall.

What are My Options for a Home Climbing wall?

Your two options for an in-home climbing wall are either a horizontal or vertical climbing wall. Our Traverse Walls® are designed to be climbed horizontally instead of vertically, and are perfect for a bedroom or any other indoor space with a lower ceiling height. If you are looking to put a climbing wall in a garage or home sport court with higher ceilings, then a Vertical or Top Rope Wall might be a better option for your home. Our Top Rope Walls are typically best suited for older kids and adults because they require a belay system for the safety of the climber. We offer climbing walls that have an autobelay system or a manual belay system. This past blog post outlines both systems and will help you decide what is best for your family. A safety training is included with all of our vertical climbing walls so that you can learn all about safety, operation and maintenance. Our experienced trainer will come to your home for this important event.

What is Included in a Home Climbing Wall?

The home climbing wall includes panels, hand holds and safety mats. Most of our climbing walls are made up of 4’-wide by 8’-high panels that can be cut to different sizes to fit in your space. Each panel has its own look and feel (depending on which style you choose) and most include 66 preset placements for hand holds, as well as 20 colorful Groperz® hand holds that are color coded for difficulty. We also offer custom color holds so you and your little climbers can choose the look of your indoor climbing space. These walls also come with safety mats and can include our signature Red-Relief Line® which is another safety feature that reminds climbers to stay within a distance of 3 feet from the floor. Please check our website to see all surface options and their details.

What Type of Home Climbing Wall Should I Consider?

Some of our most popular walls are cross-curricular climbing walls which can either feature a magnetic, dry-erase or chalkboard surface. These walls are a great option to keep your kids both active and engaged in learning while they’re out of school.

Our Magna® Climbing Wall is magnet-accepting and includes sentence building, word building, and math magnets that can be used for fun learning activities that will have your kids prepared for their next school year while also allowing them to stay active. Our Discovery® Dry-Erase and Discovery® Blackboard climbing walls can also be used to practice math and vocabulary skills while keeping your kids active. Climbers can also get creative and show off their artistic skills with these amazing write-on surfaces. The Dry-Erase panels are also magnet-accepting, so you get the best of both worlds!

A Mural Climbing Wall is a great option for any home because you get to choose whatever design you want to put on the panels. You can choose from our four mural options: Mountain, Ocean. Jungle or Space, or you can go with your own design. Whether it be a family photo, children’s artwork, or any other idea you have, the possibilities are truly endless!

Lastly, but most certainly not least, we offer a Relief-Feature™ Wall that has a natural rock look and feel. It has a variety of fixed rock shapes that are part of the wall and can be used along with the provided hand holds. Hand holds are included just the same as our other walls, but climbers get an extra challenge by trying to climb across the wall using only the relief features.

Keep in mind that any of our climbing walls can be made for the home, so be sure to review all of the options.

What if I Don’t Want to Do Anything Permanent to My Indoor Living Space?

Keep in mind that our climbing walls are easy to install, move and remove. They do require drilling into existing walls, so if you truly do not want to make any changes to your current home, consider these freestanding or outdoor options.

Our freestanding EverActive® Jr is a great home climbing wall option that does not require any installation or changes to your existing home because it is completely freestanding. This wall is 8 feet wide and 10 feet tall and assembles in under 3 hours with two people (not including hand hold installation). It adjusts from 10 to 60 degrees with a manual crank (no electricity required) that can be placed on either side of the wall, so this is perfect for varying ages and climbing abilities. You can also set the hand holds in whatever way you want and can change them frequently to keep it fun and interesting for the whole family. It’s sold with or without flooring and with or without a hand hold package.

Another good option if you’re not wanting something installed inside your home is one of our outdoor Playground Walls™ that can go right in your backyard for your children to enjoy! This is also a wonderful option if you just don’t have the space for a climbing wall inside your home. A Playground Wall is eight feet tall, freestanding and double sided – with hand holds on both sides of the wall. This climbing wall comes in gray or clear panels. The clear panels are best sellers because they allow climbers to see each other through the wall! Required landing surface is not included with this climbing wall and will need to be furnished by the homeowner.

What About Safety?

No matter which climbing wall you choose, it is critical that children always be supervised while climbing. Our Traverse Walls® include many safety features along with recommended rules and protocols. Our on-site training for vertical climbing walls will equip you with the required knowledge and skills. We also recommend checking with your homeowner’s insurance company to ensure that your climbing wall is added to your insurance plan.

Who Can Install My Home Climbing Wall?

We offer factory installation and can send one of our trained installers to your home to handle your installation. Rest assured that our installers have passed a comprehensive background check and are covered by liability insurance. It’s also possible for you to self-install a Traverse Wall®. We include installation instructions and offer free phone support. Note that we must install any vertical climbing walls for safety reasons.
